Meet LIS 755 Student: Janetta Pegues

Janetta Pegues is entering her second year with us at SLIS. (Her last name is pronounced “pig-ease.”) She was born and raised in Chicago, with years of experience at the Chicago Public Library (both the Central Library and the Near-North Branch) before coming to Madison for further education. She works at Memorial Library at the circulation desk, manages the Lutheran Campus Center, and assists the archivist for the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey.

Ms. Pegues is a singer... you might have enjoyed her vocals at the MLK celebration at the Overture Center, her church, or even at Karaoke Kid on University Avenue!

She comes from a big family and has a 33 year-old son of her own. Especially dear to her heart are her grandsons, Jaylen (10 years) and Jordan (3 years), who live in Nashville. This picture was taken at Jaylen’s middle school graduation this spring.
